Medicinæ Doctor (Doctor of Medicine)

MD yo the Day Code is MD! MD is the same day code as DM!

THERE ARE ONLY 28 DAY CODES!
All day codes are two letters long.
The order of the letters is not important.
Therefore....
MJ=JM IJ=JI EX=XE Etc...

What does all this mean?

As far as I can tell the day code is random,

By saving your transfers you can ride for free if you know the day code.

You will need to save up a lot of old transfers before you get all 28 day codes.

Even when you have all 28 day codes some of them may expire too early or too late.
You will have to save up very many transfers to get all day codes and a good variety expiration times.

Then its only a matter of using the transfer for that day!

Hopefully this picture will better illustrate the concept, it is an image of what I call a "book".

You will notice in the next picture I have well over 80 transfers more than enough to have all 28 day codes and all a few variations on expiration times.

Some quick math will show that while time consuming this method of riding Tri Met is slightly cheaper than buying monthly passes.

A monthly all zone pass, is $86. Supposing I bought 100 transfers that's $200. (The actual amount would be much less because there are many sources of transfers than just buying them)

Because the color of the transfers changes with the seasons, you can ride for much longer than a month.

3 months of monthly passes = $258
vs.
3 months of reusing transfers = $200

The dollar cost of reusing transfers is extremely variable. In reality it actually costs much less due to finding old used transfers, collecting transfers from friends etc. And in the long term collecting transfers can be used indefinitely for once you collect every day code in every single color at every single expiration you could theoretically ride Tri Met for free for life! If you know the day code. That's where this blog comes in, hopefully if we can get more contributors we can reliably publish the code everyday.

12 months of reusing transfers= $800 (reusable next year)
1 yearly pass = $946 (expires after a year)

Example of the color Orange, current color is blue for winter I think,
